Blue Rose Falling

Bright afternoon sunlight lit the floor of the courtroom. Having no desire to look back into the frowning, disappointed and angry faces around herself, Aurnia stared persistently at the flood of light on the floor. Dust floated in the air where her gaze was fixed.
Aurnia was sitting in the centre of the room. She was concentrating on trying to look poised and calm. She knew her palms were sweating inside her gloves, and she itched to pull the gloves off and go wash her hands, but she didn’t move, she was waiting for the end.

The TentThe suburbian summer night is full of two kinds of noise: Cars and human voices. Cars drove past the garden every ten minutes up until three in the morning. People noises of the surrounding barbeque parties faded away before two o'clock. The first night I slept in the tent, I was scared of the noise. I'd put up the tent in order to have a place to be alone in peace and quiet, but the night noises were near, clear and alive.
It was more quiet inside the house, but I didn't want to go inside. It was not my home to go into. I was invited, but in July, it was warm enough to sleep in a tent outside.

Brittle BirdThe awful reality had come back to me little be little, of how I had lost everything. I'd had no idea of how grief could affect mind and memory like this. Looking past at the last few days, I can't recognize myself. I had unraveled like a ball of twine, and at last - bereft of my heart, my work, a roof above my head - I had ended up here at the shady edge of the city, renting a bed shoved in a cupboard with the last coppers I had.

Choir is giving a free advent concert on the 29th - next week. I'll be standing in the soprano section. I've missed a few practices due to adventuring abroad. Despite shaky notes in yesterday's practice, I feel very good about the concert repertoire, we're performing some beautiful pieces.

Tove Jansson's Sent i November (Moominvalley in November) [link] is a wonderful novel. It's led me to my first and probably only Christmas gift wish this year: The Fillyjonk mug. Fillyjonk's distressed neurotic behavior has been a very insightful piece of reading for me. She makes me feel funny and sad at the same time.

Still oh so many Christmas presents to knit, I'm afraid. I'll have to stop writing and design in December just to make sure I'm all done by Christmas Eve.

I uploaded a short text from 2006 today. Just because it's sorta good. No point having it staying hidden in the cupboards alone.
